This year our annual community day will be Saturday August 29th, the traditional weekend for this event between Fair Week and Labor Day.
The Greater Franklin Chamber of Commerce will be coordinating activities & advertising and preparing a map of activities & lawn sales. We have placed this event in a full page ad for Franklin in the summer issue of Kaatskill Life, with great placement on page 3.
Local participants include:
- St Paul’s Episcopal Church – pies
- Franklin Free Library – books
- Farmers’ Market – produce, etc.
- Franklin Stage Company – An Enemy of the People
- Chamber – coordination
- Doodle Bugs – display
- Rotary – lunchtime grilling
- Franklin Railroad & Community Museum – display
- Rec Committee – block party, 5 – 9pm
- Blue Farm Antiques – Photos of Franklin 1900 – 1930 by Arthur Austin
- Fire Department – open house
- Botanical Treasures
Main Street businesses that will be open on the Day include:
- Tulip & Rose Café
- Squire’s Tankard
- Franklin Durable Goods
- Armory Woodworking
- Gone Local Gourmet Deli
- Wise Guy’s Pizza Tasting
As we did last year, a free map of events, businesses and lawn sales will be available. In addition, there will be a free brochure for a walking tour of homes in the village.
We invite any and all organizations and businesses in the Town of Franklin to participate. As it was last year, each group will be responsible for their own event. Suggestions are welcome.
The annual lawn sales are now a part of Franklin Day in August, (there was no town-wide lawn sale in June as in previous years).
The Chamber has spared no expense at arranging a full moon for any evening festivities.
Franklin Day will be one of the topics of our August meeting on Wednesday, August 26th, 7pm at the RR Museum. All Chamber members and prospective members are invited.
