Franklin Chamber Minutes – October 26, 2016

Present: Brian Brock, Ellen Curtis, Trish Tyrell, Johanna VanDeusen, Don Hebbard

September meeting minutes were reviewed.  Ellen moved to accept, Brian seconded, motion carried.

Treasurer’s Report:

Ellen requested breakdown of Old Franklin Day Income/Expenses.  Ellen provided Profit/Loss statement reflecting Jan-Dec of 2015 and 2016, to help provide framework for working budget planning.  For 2016, so far, total income of $1,695, expenses of $2,432, with net income of -$737.  Membership lists reviewed- Trish will contact Ellen  of Asea Of Diamonds and Kelly Ackley.  Johanna will contact Missy’s Salon.

Economic Survey:

Most recent version of the survey was reviewed.  One thousand copies, of light green were purchased will be purchased by Friday by Trish, who will deliver to Don to get to the printer in Norwich to be inserted into the NFR for mailing to Franklin addresses.  Don advised that the Rotary can likely contribute $50 towards the cost of the survey.  Brian confirmed with Wise Guys Pizza that they were okay with us raffling off gift certificates, and stated that Wise Guys Pizza may contribute one of the $25 gift certificates.

There have been some changes and updates made recently.  There are still some questions regarding business profiles (ie- Golf Course is listed but not a member??).

Business Updates:

Meadowbrook Farm is up for sale.  The Tulip & The Rose, and Gone Local are changing over to their winter schedules.  Wise Guys Pizza is discussing expanding their grocery inventory to include dry goods- in addition to their Deli section.

Flags & Benches:

It was noted that the flags have been removed, and that Benches will be taken down shortly.

Big Buck Contest:

Posters are up, including at Wise Guys Pizza and Burgin’s Auto.  Will look to put into the display case at the Post Office.

Christmas Trees:

Trees for the Village have increased $100, totaling $600 for 40 small trees, and includes a big tree to be put into the village park.  Will check with Jack Simon who may already have a large tree in mind for the park.  Carl Lobdell is willing to pick up the trees again, and the Rotary puts them up. Don advised that he is looking to ask person’s with a tree if they are willing to keep lit until 11pm-12am, and is crafting a letter to Village residents regarding future plans and ideas regarding tree placement, lighting, etc…

Calendar 2017:

Spring Fundraiser in March/April of 2017; insurance payment due in April; Memorial Day and Annual Awards in May; Annual Meeting in July; Old Franklin Day in August; Shop Local Saturday in November; Christmas Stroll/Market and Budget in Dec/Jan.

Upcoming:

Small Business Saturday on 11/26/16.  Holiday Market and Christmas Stroll on 12/10/16, including Grandma’s Pantry from 11am-3pm, Story and Santa at the Library at 10am, Market from 1-4, Stroll from 1-5, Village Park Tree Lighting at 5:30pm, Theater Performance at 4pm, School Lasagna Dinner from 4-7pm, Hot Cocoa & Ornaments at Franklin Eye Wear from 1-4pm.
